STUDY FOR RETURN I & II, 2023
Study for Return I & II explores themes of monumentality and the human form through sculpted figures that evoke both permanence and impermanence.
Created with concrete and steel, these anthropomorphic forms are rooted in a tradition of figurative sculpture while embracing a distinctly structural quality.
The work reflects on the paradoxes of solidity and fragility, as well as the transient nature of identity and place. Embedded with local soil and aggregate, the sculpture resonates with the history and materiality of various landscapes, engaging in a dialogue about belonging, displacement, and the connection between land and identity.
