Eucalyptus Gum Nuts, Wire and Steel
SHIFTING SHADOWS, 2024
Shifting Shadows immersively explores the transient nature of time through site-specific sculptures crafted from six thousand woven Eucalyptus seed pods.
The organic, sprouting forms evoke the spontaneity of natural growth, inviting contemplation of life's ephemeral qualities. The sculptures interact with light and shadow, creating dynamic patterns that change throughout the day and seasons. These shifting shadows highlight the constant transformation of our surroundings and ourselves. Over time, the sculptures undergo their own metamorphosis, mirroring the cyclical rhythms of erosion and growth.
A circular bench encourages viewers to pause, appreciate fleeting moments, and engage deeply with their environment. Each visit offers new perspectives, inviting reflection on the relationships between self, environment, and the rhythmic realities of light, darkness, and organic transformation. Shifting Shadows inspires curiosity and a profound appreciation for the ever-changing nature of our world.
