Edoardo Daniele Villa

Bronze and Constructed Steel

GREEN SENTINEL, 2001

Villa's significance lies in his volumetric experiments and abstract interpretations of the human form in bronze and constructed steel.

Initially focused on figurative work in bronze, he later explored cut steel, adding colour to his constructions in the early 1960s. Although he sometimes rejected colour for diminishing the monumental essence of his work, he frequently returned to it for its playfulness and emotive impact.

Today, the widespread presence of Villa's sculptures in public spaces across the country underscores his enduring success and influence.
